Shaun Ryder, front man for the Happy Mondays and later venture Black Grape, has signed a deal to write his autobiography. Publishers Transworld have forked out to print the words of wisdom from one of the greatest caners of all time. Let’s face it, this guy and his band mates sent legendary Manchester label Factory broke in the early 90s with their crack cocaine habit. Clearly Ryder has hoodwinked the publishers in to thinking he can remember more than he does and even with the help of a ghostwriter, we seriously hope they can transform the ramblings of a semi-literate junkie (who is now supposedly clean) in to a readable tome. Says Ryder in the presser: “I’ve been mithered [pestered] for years to write my autobiography, but I’ve always said no because the timing never felt right. Plenty of other people have had their say on Happy Mondays and Black Grape, and now just felt like the right time to tell it like it really happened.”
