Just a matter of days after the announce of Golden Plains’ 2019 lineup, one of its headline acts has announced a run of Aussie dates.
Almost 40 years ago, the music world was treated to the enigmatic group of musicians called Happy Mondays. Within a few years, the Manchester group had become one of the most prominent bands in the Madchester scene, releasing a series of highly-influential records.
By the time that 1990 rolled around, the group arguably hit their creative peak, releasing the seminal Pills ‘n’ Thrills and Bellyaches record. Featuring huge tracks like ‘Kinky Afro’ and a cover of ‘Step On’, the album was massive, and is often considered a highlight of the decade.
Now, after 28 years, numerous break-ups, reformations, and a new album in between it all, Happy Mondays are set to hit up Australia in 2019 to perform their 1990 classic in full.
Already touching down in March for the 2019 edition of Golden Plains, the group are set to perform in Australia for the first time since a cancelled 2013 tour.
Kicking off in Perth on March 2nd, Happy Mondays are set to hit up Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne, before wrapping things up with a headline appearance at Golden Plains.
With a lineup featuring original members Shaun and Paul Ryder, Mark Day, and Gaz Whelan, Happy Mondays will also be joined by Bez, Rowetta, and Dan Broad, with the band promising a “huge surprise” for their Aussie fans.
Tickets to this tour go on sale 9am local time on Friday, October 26th, with a pre-sale kicking off on Wednesday, October 24th.
