Ballarat stars Howl are changing their name. The 2009 Triple J Unearthed High winners have been tearing up stages around the country and clocking up some pretty impressive supports, but they have had to face a few hard truths. If you Google the name Howl they come up a billion pages in, or if you add in the word band and music to your search, you bring up a doom metal band from Rhode Island in the US. Hence, they needed a new name.

After at first thinking of going with the moniker Paradise, they’ve instead settled on Hunting Grounds, which is derived from the North American native belief in a heaven-like “Happy Hunting Grounds”. Yep it’s an odd one, but we’ll all soon get used to it. In the meantime, you can check out the same band now with a different name at one of these dates.
