Legendary Bad Seeds founder, Hugo Race is heading back to Oz to play two intimate shows for Australian audiences. Hailing from Melbourne, Hugo has spent much of the last 25 years living in Italy, France, Germany, UK and the USA. He’s produced 14 Hugo Race & The True Spirits albums with his international True Spirit collective. The latest, 53rd State was released in Australia and Europe in 2008 to rave reviews, followed in 2009 by the ‘bootleg’ CD Live in Wolow Jail, which was recorded in a maximum security slammer in Poland.

ace’s lengthy list of collaborations span another ten or more albums, spread over several continents including his USA project Dirtmusic (their BKO album, recorded in Bamako, Africa, as a cross-cultural collaboration with the Malian Tuareg group Tamikrest, was hailed as one of the best albums of 2010), the French-American band Lilium, the Brazilian project Moses Complex, the Berlin-based Rogall’s Electric Circus Sideshow, and the Sicilian band Sepiatone with which Hugo has released two albums with a third in the pipeline.  Rarely seeming to pause for breath, in 2010 Race’s album Between Hemispheres, a mix of African instruments and edgy electronica, received global applause. Finally content to do the solo singer songwriter thing, Fatalists is his first solo release.
