The City Lights is a fitting name for a band that have sprung from Sydney; Australia’s mecca of all things neon and luminescent.
A strong mix of soul, pop, and rock, the threesome make the type of music that makes you imagine a modern day Beatles troupe on stage playing to a crowd that is both tapping their feet and yelling out the chorus.
With a growing fan base, the band make music you can really sink your teeth into.
I Just Got To Believe starts with the title track of the same name. It has lyrics that buck the musical trend of emotional lethargy which is so common these days and instead they have an aggressively hopeful quality.
“Without People You’re Nothing” is a much more punk sounding track that’s big on sentiment. Feverish drums back a long intro showcasing the band’s mastery of their instruments as well as their aptitude for writing political lyrics.
“Like I Do” is a sexy new age love story with a great synergy between the well trodden path of the modern day love story and a very now soundtrack.
Like the track, the whole album is very modern, very masculine, and very relatable.
