To promote the release of their latest album If Not Know, When?, Incubus created a live HQ in a leased out Hollywood art gallery.

The idea was simple, host some intimate performances, including tracks off the new album and stream them live via web.

Audio from these live shows is captured here on disc, with a well chosen blend of hits and fan favourites pulled from albums Make Yourself, Morning View, A Crow Left of the Murder and of course If Not Now, When?

The sound quality is top notch as per gear set-up and the band pull off each tune with ease, amongst frontman Brandon Boyd’s witty banter.

Visual highlights captured on the DVD reflect how deeply involved fans became with the project. Band performances come across as fluid, emotive and engaging despite the cluttered array of gear strewn about and the extremely close quarters of the audience.

Extra content is available including interviews, band clinics, jam sessions, instrument swaps, competitions and even the creation of quasi song “Sugar, Water, Purple” during a set.

The main aim of this endeavor was to, as Brandon states, “pierce the thin but discernible layer between us and the audience.” By that definition, Incubus HQ Live is quite an accomplishment, cleverly utilising every facet of technology available to connect audiences globally.

Kudos to Incubus. They’ve challenged the status quo and come up with something bold and fresh which should excite fans and intrigue those not previously familiar with their work.
