Another show has ended poorly for M.I.A due to safety fears, as a thunderstorm threatened to bring down the stage and lightning played havoc with the equipment. She was performing at the Hard NYC Party festival when engineers decided to pull the plug after parts of the stage fell off and the also because of the possibility of electrocution. M.I.A was not happy with the decision and refused to leave the stage yelling “Fuck that Shit”.
She was earlier seen downing bottles of tequila, then hurling them into the audience.
Audience members also reported that the show was underwhelming, with the performer apparently wasting time trying to set up lasers. When the sound was cut she continued to rap without any backing track for several minutes, which reportedly didn’t impress.
Ever the consummate professional, she ended the show by spitting at a lucky photographer, who was able to capture the moment beautifully.
She then jumped on Twitter and ranted about the inadequacy of the sound engineers, saying “Money doesn’t buy u s**t! I thought more money means better sound guys in America… I was wrong, the higher u go, they turn u lower !”.
