It’s one of those things you never knew that you wanted until now, but it has been confirmed that iconic blues-rocker Jack White has finally met with his contradictory namesake, musical funnyman Jack Black.
There are undoubtedly some strange stories out there in the world of celebrities and their names. Why, many are unable to get over the fact that actor Gary Oldman is actually younger than musician Gary Newman, for an example.
However, there have been a few times in the past where people have simply thought, “wouldn’t it be funny if Jack White and Jack Black met?” After all, this would probably have to result in some sort of universal implosion, right? Or at the very least, the creation of a ‘Jack Grey’.
Now, the question that few have asked has finally been answered, with the pair being photographed meeting each other recently.
Taking to Instagram recently, the official Tenacious D account shared an image of Kyle Gass and Jack Black meeting Jack White at London’s Heathrow Airport.
With both Tenacious D and Jack White’s Saboteurs in the country to perform shows, The D joked that they had “hired a new merch guy”, much to the delight of their legions of fans.
Strangely, this isn’t the first time that the pair had been in the same room, with the pair attending the 2006 MTV VMAs and Jack Black introducing The White Stripes at a 2007. While Black had made that now-infamous ‘Jack Grey’ joke at the time, there had been no photographic evidence of the pair meeting. Until now.
While it remains to be seen whether or not we might end up with some sort of collaboration in the future (Tenacious Dead Weather, maybe?), at least a small population of people can finally stop wondering if the universe will implode when the two Jacks finally meet.
In related news, Jack White’s Saboteurs are set to release their first new album in over ten years this month, with Help Me Stranger being released on June 21st.
