Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay has taken to social media to clarify that he was not the horned raccoon deviant that took part in the MAGA protests that stormed the Capitol on January 6th.

For context, amid all the chaos of yesterday’s Capitol proceedings “Jamiroquai” began trending on Twitter after people drew aesthetic similarities between a highly-photographed protestor snapped donning Viking garb and the British dance legend.

Jay Kay took to Twitter this morning to confirm that he was not the furry rioter that captured the world’s stage. In a video that saw him adopt a Slack-jawed Yokel affectation, Kay dispelled all rumours of his involvement “Good morning world! Now some of you may be thinking you saw me in Washington last night but I’m afraid I wasn’t with all those freaks,” Kay said.

“Umm, just to say, yeah. Happy New Year, haven’t seen you for ages,” he continued. Jay Kay went on to detail that he was in his UK home, living through the countries third nationwide lockdwn. He also went into a bit of a bizarre rant on animal liberation.

“And just to say, COVID-19 still going on. UK lockdown. However, the way we treat our animals: farming them, caging them, all the rest of it. We’re just going to keep this again and again. So, hopefully we’ll try and learn our lesson.”

Never stop being cosmic, Jamiroquai.

If you were wondering who the actual Viking perpetrator is, the horned miscreant has been identified as a 32-year-old man named Jake Angeli. Angeli is an outspoken pro-Trump, QAnon conspiracy theorist that is often referred to as “QAnon Shaman.” He’s been a prolific attendee and fervent supporter of Donald Trump at numerous rallies.

Whilst Jamiroquai can sleep soundly knowing that has not drunk the MAGA Kool Aid, the same can’t be said about lo-fi musician Ariel Pink or Iced Earth guitarist John Schaffer.
