Ah the guitar, the humble six-string. Whether you spent your Year 8 summer break learning Frogstomp in its entirety, irritating neighbours with your shred attempts or finally getting that support slot your band had been hoping for, its an instrument of simplicity and sentimentality.
As technology progresses, the guitar has remained a symbol of permanence in a world gone made – until now. Famed YouTube comedian/musician, Jared Dines has truly bucked this trend, creating a guitar so boundary-pushing, you won’t even be able to rip out a jam of ‘Wonderwall’.
Jared has garnered a fervent fanbase and solid rep for parodying metal and punk subgenres, especially the mystical and mysterious Djent. As you’re probably aware, the genre has quite the proclivity for utilizing guitars that transcend the traditional 6-string model to achieve the heaviest of tones.
Now, Dines has teamed up with Aussie crafter, Perry Ormsby to create the DJENT2018 – an 18 string monster, made from Tasmanian Blackwood featuring a stone top. The neck itself is a 9-piece construction of mahogany, Tasmanian blackwood and ebony and is reinforced with carbon alongside three truss rods – is that metal enough for ya?
