A Jimmy Barnes Australian Tour 2014 has been announced, with the powerhouse vocalist celebrating his 30th anniversary with a new album and a string of dates featuring a roster of all-star Aussie rock acts as support.
The Cold Chisel frontman and esteemed solo artist will be performing a series of outdoor concerts for A Day On the Green, coinciding with the forthcoming release of his new album 30/30 Anniversary. The new record sees Barnes re-recording 15 of his biggest hits in collaboration with homegrown talent like John Farnham, Bernard Fanning, Keith Urban, Tina Arena, and Jon Stevens; as well as his favourite acts, like Journey, Little Steven Van Zandt, Shihad, and more.
The Living End, who feature on the album’s lead single – a rollicking new take on ‘Lady Down Your Guns’ – will be opening for all dates of the Jimmy Barnes Australian Tour 2014. “We got into the studio and within four bars of playing the song I knew it was the right marriage of song and artist,” says Barnes in a statement. “It was a rollercoaster from there – I just got on and enjoyed the ride. It was fantastic.”
The forthcoming A Day On the Green dates will take in wineries around the country, starting with the Robert Oatley Vineyards in Mudgee NSW on Saturday 1st November, and concluding at the Rochford Wines in Victoria’s Yarra Valley on Saturday 20th December.
As well as Jimmy Barnes and The Living End, each date of the tour will feature a selection of Aussie bands, including You Am I, Cold Chisel’s Ian Moss, Baby Animals, Troy Cassar-Daley, Mahalia Barnes and Nick Barker – many of whom also recorded duets with Barnes on 30/30 Anniversary (out 29th August via Liberation). Each date of the Jimmy Barnes Australian Tour 2014 will also feature a segment starring the ‘Greatest Hits Spinning Wheel’, where fans will be invited on stage to spin the wheel and decide which of the 30 classic Jimmy Barnes hits therein will be performed.
