The collective knickers of Australia’s women just got a little bit wet with the announcement that Julian Casablancas of The Strokes will be playing a whirlwind tour of Australia this May. With just three dates in as many days, there’ll be little chance of the ladies getting any groupie action with the now married Stroke.

Playing songs from last year’s solo offering Phrazes for the Young, Casablancas will be hoping that the shows are more warmly received than the album. Jules had a bit of a whinge back In January saying that a residency he’d done in Los Angeles at the end of last year had sent him ‘broke’ and blamed his record company RCA for the album stiffing.

LA Weekly hit back saying “For those of us who went to see Casablancas, we all remember how elaborate his sets were. We were blinded by all the unnecessary frills that tried to make up for the lack of preparation when it came to making his album. Casablancas wanted to make a big splash on the west coast. We could see that but putting pouring all the money into these four shows instead of putting it into the album probably wasn’t a great idea.”
