Fans are beginning to think Kanye West might have drawn inspiration from The Legend Of Zelda for his new record, having included a song that sounds a lot like the classic soundtrack.
If you found yourself checking out the latest Kanye West album over the weekend, you might have been a little bit surprised. Sure, you might have realised that the old Kanye fire seems to be lacking, and you definitely would have realised that the new record has a little bit of a religious vibe throughout.
However, some fans have noticed that one of the record’s most notable songs seems to have taken influence from The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time soundtrack.
As Nintendo Life has pointed out, Kanye’s new track ‘Selah’ appears to have borrowed (or at least been inspired by) the ‘Gerudo Valley Theme’ from the 1998 video game.
Check out ‘Selah’ by Kanye West:
For any hardcore Nintendo fan, this was something that was picked up right away, with the “hallelujah” section of the above track transporting us right back to the land of Hyrule in no time.
A few fans even took to Twitter to discuss the tune, even pairing the two up for comparison, and causing some to note that the similarities were far too obvious to ignore.
“My daughter is a walking Legend Of Zelda encyclopedia,” wrote one Twitter user. “I played this clip for her and simply asked for her to tell me what she hears. No other context. She answered excitedly: ‘That’s the Gerudo Valley theme!’ So yeah.”

Of course, there’s nothing entirely malicious about this musical anomaly. After all, considering it’s nothing but a handful of chords being used in a unique way, it’s likely just a coincidence that it sounds a little bit like the classic soundtrack.
However, as some fans also noted, the usage of these chords in such a way obviously evokes such an immediate feeling of nostalgia for fans, and makes us wonder if Kanye West might secretly be a big fan of The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time.
Whatever the case, Kanye is reportedly gearing up to release a follow-up to Jesus Is King on Christmas day, planning to call it Jesus Is Born. However, we’re speculating he might just change that title to Majora’s Mask in no time.
