The disaster that is Katy Perry’s career just never ends it seems, with the artist being accused by model Josh Kloss and TV Host Tina Kandelaki of sexual harassment in the same week. Now, however, Tina Kandelaki has come out saying that her original post accusing the star, which was written in Russian, has been lost in translation.
Now if you haven’t caught up with the ongoing series of events, this whole debacle began when Josh Kloss, actor in the ‘Teenage Dream’ music video, accused Katy Perry of sexual assault.
Following this by only a few days, Georgian-born Russian journalist and TV presenter Tina Kandelaki made a statement, which the world fully believed accused Katy Perry of assault.
In a new statement, Kandelaki restates that the incident she mentions with Perry did in fact occur, but she was simply bringing it up to make an example of Josh Kloss, in a way that essentially says ‘don’t exaggerate things for the hype’.
It’s definitely an odd stance given the fact that Kandelaki does not deny that Perry tried to force herself onto her. The TV presenter even negatively brings up #MeToo, as if it is some kind of attention-grab that only occurs in Western Media.

“This week, she became the heroine of Western tabloids on a hype wave around Katy Perry. Publications of various weights and varying degrees of yellowness wrote about my post on Telegram, but they are united by one thing – everyone believes that I “blamed” Perry.
Of course, I understand that harassment and other #MeToo in the West are now one of the key trends, but I carefully re-read my post and did not find words of accusation. I told a comedic episode from my life and, on the whole, would have been absolutely calm if I had repeated it. I certainly would not sue anyone in pursuit of every second hype.
So remember other episodes and other “victims”, if so hunting. This will not be difficult, because the facts are no longer interesting to anyone, and their interpretation has long replaced.”
One fan of Perry’s wrote in response to the entire debacle:
“This is so hilarious/sad to me as a Russian person, because so much has been lost in translation in regards to this controversy. Tina Kandelaki was actually defending Katy in her initial statement. The tone of it was sarcastic and she was actually mocking the people who bring up allegations of abuse or harassment years after it supposedly happens “for personal gain”. Unfortunately, it was very poorly worded and confusing, in addition to being completely tone-deaf and insensitive to actual victims of harassment.”
