Remember that awkward interaction Kesha had with Jerry Seinfeld last month? You know, where she went in for the hug, only to be rejected three times? Of course you do, you’re probably still cringing at the awkwardness. Kesha seems to be feeling the after-effects too, as she has said in a recent interview, where she’s taken full responsibility for the awkward encounter.
Early in June, Kesha approached Seinfeld who was in the middle of a brief interview. “I’m Kesha, I love you so much!” she exclaimed as she went up to the comedian. “Can I give you a hug?” Seinfeld’s response was simple and repetitive, “no thanks,” much to Kesha’s embarrassment.

Now, a month later, Kesha has explained the situation in an interview with Sirius XM’s Hits 1. “I felt like I was 5 years old,” the singer said. “I instantly was like, ‘Oh, fuck me.'” She continued, “I somehow ended up in my own mini-episode of ‘Seinfeld’ for, like, five seconds.”
“I used to carry the whole season package with me in my carry-on, DVDs. That’s why I was trying to attack him. That’s why I wanted a hug so hard,” she said. “But he’s not a huggy guy – that’s fine. I just was like, as soon as he didn’t hug me, I [knew] that was going to be everywhere.”
“I should’ve known better,” Kesha admitted. “That was my fault, that’s my fault, that’s my fault.”
Of course, we just think the entire encounter is something that reads like a rejected scene from Seinfeld itself, capturing the classic awkwardness borne from societal minutiae in the same manner as the show.
Don’t forget either, if you want to remember this historic moment of pop culture, while still maintaining an air of high fashion, be sure to check out Seventh Street Media’s online store, where you can pick up a brilliant ‘Hug me Jerry’ t-shirt. It’s gold, Jerry! Gold!
