In upsetting news, Kim Gordon has been forced to cancel her upcoming Australian appearances, citing “health reasons” as the reason for the cancellation.

Gordon is best known for her work as bassist for seminal noise-punk band Sonic Youth, but she has cut her teeth in fashion, visual arts, writing and acting realms.

She was scheduled to make a headlining appearance at the Sydney Opera House’s Antidote 2019 festival, as part of an in-conversation event with Double J’s Myf Warhurst. Gordon was also set to appear at Melbourne Writers Festival to discuss her creative pursuits.

“Unfortunately, Kim Gordon can no longer appear… for health reasons. We offer Kim our full support and best wishes for a speedy recovery,” a spokeswoman for the Opera House shared in a statement with SMH.

Gordon is yet to release a statement. We wish her an easy recovery.

Earlier this year Sonic Youth celebrated the 30th anniversary of their groundbreaking album Daydream Nation. To commemorate the milestone, the band hosted a colossal archive sale.

The band launched a store on Reverb, that saw them flog a bunch of incredible artefacts from the bands’ illustrious career. Fans had the chance to get their paws on priceless memorabilia and gear that belonged to the rockers.

The garb up for grabs included Thurston Moore‘s Japanese-made Fender Jazzmaster and Kim Gordons Fender Precision bass and hundreds of effect pedals.
