King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard have announced their massive 27th studio album, Phantom Island.
Following last year’s Flight B741, the prolific Aussie prog-rock band teased the orchestral LP, confirming it was recorded alongside their 2024 album as part of an ambitious two-year project.
The title track is out now, along with the cover art. Fans will have to wait for a full release date, with more details dropping on April 15th. Check it out below.

Phantom Island kicks off with its title track and features 10 tracks in total. The album marks yet another creative leap for the band, following 2023’s The Silver Cord and PetroDragonic Apocalypse.
They haven’t revealed the full orchestra lineup yet, but the credits for the lead single list Brett Kelly as the conductor.
“A lot of love and time and energy and patience and growth went into this one,” wrote lead singer-guitarist Stu Mackenzie on Instagram. “Can’t wait to grow wings and fly with all of you.”
Fans can expect Phantom Island to arrive on the band’s (P)Doom label, following up Flight B741.
The latter marked a shift in direction for the band, moving away from their usual high-concept projects to embrace a more relaxed, collaborative approach. Drawing from early rock ’n’ roll, country, and blues, the album channelled influences like the Steve Miller Band and The Band, with tracks like “Mirage City”, “Antarctica”, and “Daily Blues”.
The band is about to kick off a massive US tour, including two nights at New York’s Forest Hills Stadium. Pitchfork included it in their 72 Most Anticipated Tours of 2025 list.
