Much-loved Melbourne two-piece King of the North are a solo project for the time being. Taking to Facebook, guitarist and singer Andrew Higgs revealed that his longtime partner in crime, drummer Danny Leo, has left the band.
“Danny has come to me and said that due to personal reasons he is no longer able to commit and feels for the benefit and future of KOTN he should leave the band. As shocked as I was to hear this, I understand his reasons completely and I support his decision,” wrote Higgsy.
“I love Danny like I would a little brother and I wish him all the best in the future and thank him for his time playing in KOTN. As most know, King Of The North has finished recording a new album to be released very soon.”
Obviously shocked to have his friend and bandmate depart, Higgsy is nonetheless committed to keeping the KOTN wheels rolling and is looking for a replacement drummer who can join the band for their upcoming world tour.
“There are also epic tours booked for 2016. So, auditions for a new beast to sit at the stool have already started,” he wrote. So if you’re handy with a pair of drum sticks or know anyone who is, time to nail a couple of KOTN tunes.
“The auditions will continue for another few weeks before I announce who the lucky mofo is, that will be touring this great new album across 10 countries with me this year!” Higgsy wrote. “I thank everyone in advance for their support and understanding.”
