The Laneway Festival, which turned 10 this year, has officially announced the 2015 Australasian festival dates and venue details.

It’s been a decade since Danny Rogers and Jerome Borazio threw a party and called it a festival down by the ‘colourful’ alley in the backstreets of the Melbourne CBD in 2005. In that time, Laneway has hosted some of the world’s best artists before they went on to become major stars.

In 2015, it returns to this year’s iconic locations in Singapore, New Zealand and to five Australian cities.

Brisbane Laneway punters are going to be thrilled, with the festival to be held on a Saturday for the first time in six years. In addition, the festival is moving to a completely new, more spacious part of the RNA grounds.

After its successful debut in 2014, Laneway returns to the historic site at Harts Mill, Port Adelaide, and this year’s move from Perth to Fremantle’s historic West End and Esplanade Reserve will also be repeated so punters can enjoy more free flowing space, with pop up restaurants, food stalls and markets helping create the perfect setting for a summer music festival.

In addition, the Brisbane and Adelaide editions of Laneway will also be open to punters 16 years and older for the first time.

The full festival line-up for all three countries will be announced at 7AM Singapore time on Thursday 2 October, but that hasn’t stopped a few sneaky leaks emerging from the lineup already.

Recently named the most blogged about artist of 2014, LA’s Jillian Banks “cagily revealed” to FasterLouder  that she was planning her debut visit Down Under. When asked if it would be for a certain indie music festival, she relayed her excitement for the tour; “I’ve never done anything like that, apparently you like travel with the festival for a week?”

Strengthening the connection is that Banks was near the top of Laneway organisers’ favourites at SXSW earlier this year, the festival sparking its own lineup rumours after sharing their picks for the artist that grabbed their ears at the Austin-based music festival and conference.

Banks isn’t the only cutting-edge, blog-adored maven looking likely for Laneway 2015. Last month, British dancer-turned-neo-RnB star FKA Twigs was all but confirmed for the festival lineup. Also good timing given she’s just dropped her own highly anticipated debut albumLP 1, this week.

If the ‘leaks’ prove true, next year’s going to have a female contingent as strong as last year’s Laneway lineup (featuring Lorde, Haim, Adalita, Savages, Chvrches, Daughter, Warpaint et al.)

Other artists strongly rumoured for the Laneway Festival 2015 lineup include Sohn, Highasakite, and Thumpers – who are all touring Australia courtesy of Laneway Presents.
