There have been plenty of reasons to celebrate of late for Paul Hannan and Louise O’Reilly, two parts of Laneway. In the same week they announced the release of their stunning new album entitled, ‘Turn Your Love Up’, the pair were awarded the 2012 Grant McLennan Memorial Fellowship.

Hannan and O’Reilly with the chance to travel to Berlin, one of McLennan’s much loved cities, to build an international profile, establish a European base for touring & record new material… and it couldn’t have come at a better time.

The new album ‘Turn Your Love Up’, features a superb collection of ten original songs crafted by the duo; displaying strong and striking roomy guitars, both gritty and delicate, reflecting light and shade, with floating vocals, seamless harmonies and diverse compositions. The album was recorded at Matt Redlich’s new studio, Grandma’s Place, as well as sessions at Studio 301 in Byron Bay with Jordan Power, Delta Grove Studios with Fingers Malone and in Melbourne at Little Gold Studios with Steve Fraser. They also did a tracking session in one of the wooden dwellings on their property in the southeast Queensland rainforest of Natural Bridge where they have spent the last 21⁄2 years pioneering and playing songs.
The Fellowship was established in 2007 to honour the late Queensland singer-‐songwriter Grant McLennan -‐ considered one of Australia’s greatest songwriters and founding member of internationally successful Brisbane band The Go-‐Betweens.

The lead single and opening track on the album, ‘Love is a Devil’ was one of the first songs the duo ever wrote together. A haunted ballad with wild arrangements, the song sets the tone for the rest of the album, compelling the listener to embark on a journey through the metaphorical woods.
Released through Crawler Records with support from Arts QLD and the Gold Coast City Council, Laneway will take their live show on the road in full band mode from August to October. ‘Turn Your Love Up’ is available on iTunes from August 1st or direct from the online store.
