A fairly boring NME Shockwaves Awards ceremony was enlivened this week by a backstage scrag fight between media whores Lily Allen and Courtney Love.
Surprisingly, it wasn’t over how many headlines each had generated in the press over the last few years, but rather over a posting Lily made on Twitter. After taking a break from constant Twitter updates for a few months, Lily’s back on the Blackberry and apparently made a comment about Courtney’s daughter with Kurt, Frances Bean Cobain.
Their amicable chat apparently quickly turned sour and they had to be dragged away from each other. Some of the pithy epithets offered by Love on Allen included calling her a ‘little girl’ and saying ‘welcome to the music industry’. An apparently teary Lily, no doubt a little ‘tired and emotional’ as per usual, reportedly snapped back: ‘Why the fuck did you say that to me?’ before storming out of the awards.
