It had been almost four years since London indie-pop princess Lily Allen was telling us that it’s not fair and that she think’s we’re really mean, before exiting the scene with a raised middle finger and sugar-sweet “fuck you very much”.

But boy oh boy (or should it be girl oh girl) in typical Lily Allen fashion, the songstress stormed back into the music world in November of last year, sparking gross controversy with her first video release ‘Hard Out Here’.

In Allen’s first step back into the musical limelight after 2009’s acclaimed It’s Not Me, It’s You, Allen was forced to defend herself from a myriad of attack, naysayers accusing the artists’ ‘Hard Out Here’ video of both racial and misogynistic undertones.

Now Allen has revealed the title of her upcoming third full-length record, as Metro reports. Ladies and gentlemen, please brace yourselves: she shall be crowned Sheezus.

Of course, Sheezus is a direct rip of the Australia-bound Kanye West’s epic yet painfully egotistical 2013 release, Yeezus.

Allen confirmed the title of her 2014 release on the Graham Norton show, confessing to the UK television host “it’s a confident title choice – and a little nod to Kanye West.” It most certainly is, Lily.

The mouthy then took to her ever-entertaining Twitter account to confirm the album title.


There’s no question that Allen’s decision to name her record Sheezus will undoubtedly cause a giant stir on social media, proven by West as the best kind of record promotion, even if one is directly accused of blasphemy.

And what say you, Mr. West? Surely the ‘New Slaves’ response bomb is ticking away beneath a pair of leather crotch trousers, waiting to further immortalise the rapper’s testament of ‘I Am A God’.

In January, Allen released the second single from the impending Sheezus , ‘Air Balloon’. The accompanying video being a far more bubblegum friendly four minutes than ‘Hard Out Here’, showing Allen frolicking with zebras, cheetahs, and giant mushrooms in South Africa; not too much to ruffle the feathers over this time, right?

Allen has also revealed that her infamous Twitter battle with the equally mouthy Brooklyn hip-hop artist Azelia Banks has inspired much of the writing for Sheezus. 

Allen stated to NME “This one person was being particularly horrible to me and I happened to be in a studio session at the time, and it was just brilliant because it ignited this juvenile flame in my belly. So thank you, Ms. Banks”.

An addict for the dramatic, Allen’s closing comments to the NME for her third release “I’m sure people will find things to get angry about on the record.”

No official release date has been locked-in for Lily Allen’s Sheezus, however she has confirmed she will take to the Glastonbury stage for 2014.
