Limp Bizkit will proceed with their upcoming ‘Papa Gringo Tour’ dates following the death of founding bassist Sam Rivers, according to organisers hosting the band’s Mexico City show.

Rivers died on Saturday, with authorities in St. Johns County, Florida, responding to a “nonresponsive person in cardiac arrest” call. Reports suggest he was under medical supervision at the time of his death, though an official cause has not been released. Following the news, the band’s DJ Lethal shared a photograph of Rivers wearing a “Fuck Cancer” shirt, accompanied by the hashtag #FuckCancer.

MusicVibe, organisers of the band’s upcoming Mexico City performance, confirmed on Monday that the Limp Bizkit tour would continue as scheduled (as per Rolling Stone). “In such a significant moment for the band and its fans, Limp Bizkit has decided to continue with its performance on November 29th,” the statement read.

The organisers added: “That night, every riff and every scream of the crowd will resonate in honour of the great legacy Sam offered to Nu-Metal, because his energy will never cease.”

The band paid tribute to Rivers, describing him as “a once-in-a-lifetime kind of human.” Their social media statement continued: “A true legend of legends. And his spirit will live forever in every groove, every stage, every memory. We love you, Sam. We’ll carry you with us, always. Rest easy, brother. Your music never ends.”

Frontman Fred Durst released a separate tribute, reflecting on their shared journey: “With Limp Bizkit, we’ve been on such a journey, it’s been a massive roller coaster, and here we are just having this incredible moment, man, and it’s going so, so beautifully smooth. And Sam was just really happy about it.”

Durst’s statement emphasised Rivers’ contentment with the band’s current success: “Rocked stadiums together, been around the world together, shared so many moments together. And I know that, wherever Sam is right now, he’s smiling and feeling like, ‘Man, I did it. I did it.’ And, man, did he do it. What he’s left us behind is priceless.”
