Former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham is reportedly safe after being attacked by a woman in Santa Monica this week.
As reported by Rolling Stone, the incident occurred as Buckingham arrived for an appointment yesterday, where the woman allegedly threw an unknown liquid substance at him from a container.
The Santa Monica Police Department is working with the LAPD’s Threat Management Unit on the investigation. Authorities told media outlets that the suspect is believed to be a stalker with a history of incidents involving Buckingham. While an arrest has not yet been made, police believe the woman discovered the location of Buckingham’s appointment and followed him there.
The incident comes just days after Buckingham shared his creative plans for 2026 in a video post on social media.
“I am still very, very grounded in my creative life,” he said in the video.
“I’ve been working on a new solo album for the last couple of years, which is one song away from being finished.”
Buckingham also hinted that a long-awaited Fleetwood Mac documentary could finally see the light of day this year, and spoke about his mended relationship with former partner and bandmate Stevie Nicks. The duo appear to have reconciled following the 2025 reissue of their 1973 debut album, Buckingham Nicks.

“I think on a more general level, just the energy in terms of what Buckingham Nicks did to sort of create a resurgence of connection between Stevie and myself, I think on a larger scale, that seems to be something that’s in the air,” he said.
“And what that translates to specifically, I wouldn’t want to speculate yet. But I believe with all my heart, it will translate to something good, and something wonderful, and something needed and something extremely appropriate.”
It’s a massive shift, considering the duo’s tumultuous history, which famously culminated in Buckingham’s firing from Fleetwood Mac in 2018. The reunion talk also seems to contradict Nicks’ previous statements. In a 2024 interview, she said she couldn’t envision a Fleetwood Mac tour following the death of Christine McVie in 2022.
