Empire of the Sun set fans’ hearts and minds on fire last week when the band posted some new artwork via their Facebook page, seemingly teasing the release of their highly awaited third album.
Currently not much is known about the album but fans are encouraged to sign up to the band’s mailing list to stay up to date.
Earlier this year Empire of the Sun experienced something of a resurgence when their track ‘Walking On A Dream’ entered the Billboard Hot 100, eight years after it was initially released, thanks to a certain Honda Civic commercial.
The surge in popularity could not have come at a better time for the band, whose last album, Ice on the Dune, was released back in 2013.
“The third record, we’ve been working on for about two years,” Steele said. “The timing is, like, immaculate. We’re going to the studio next week to have a big band listening session… it’s pretty exciting.”
This all falls in line with comments Luke Steele made earlier this year about when the record would come out. “I think now that this has happened, it’s going to be probably, definitely September,” Steele added. “The company’s gonna be like… ‘Guitars down, headphones off.”
