Bruce Springsteen last visited our shores back in 2014 and played some of his most acclaimed Australian shows to date. Not only did they consist of the marathon-length sets we’ve come to expect from The Boss, but he honoured a local artist in each city.
A regular visitor Down Under, The Boss’s 2014 trek came just a year after he visited us in 2013, and it now looks as though we may not have to wait much longer to see the rock icon and his faithful E Street Band take our stages once again.
Legendary Australian music promoter and Frontier Touring chief Michael Gudinski recently made an appearance on Triple M where told the hosts and listeners to expect a “massive February and March of rock” and hinted at a 2017 Springsteen tour.
“That was an interesting visit from Michael Gudinski,” the official Triple M Hot Breakfast account recently tweeted. “We’ve been warmed up to expect a MASSIVE February/March of rock!” The tweet was post-scripted with the hashtag #TheBoss.
They followed up the tweet by addressing rumours that Springsteen, whose memoir is set to drop next month, could play Victoria’s Hanging Rock, where The Rolling Stones were set to play before the show was cancelled due to Mick Jagger’s illness.
Meanwhile, other big tours set to visit Australian shores soon include the semi-reformed original lineup of Guns N’ Roses and Adele, whose Australian tour could be the biggest of the year if it does indeed eventuate.
