Lorde’s rescheduled Australian Tour 2014 dates have been announced.
Following postponing her original tour earlier this year, the New Zealand sensation is making her promised return this July.
Promoters Frontier Touring have confirmed that ticketholders for the previously purchased dates will be valid for the new Lorde Australian Tour 2014 dates, but have also offered refunds to those who aren’t able to make the newly rescheduled dates.
The 17-year-old New Zealand sensation was originally set to tour Australia in April but was forced to pull out just days before she was set to kick off her eight-date run under “doctor’s orders.”
Words from Lorde, real name Ella Yelich-O’Connor, showed her disappointment for scrapping the dates at short notice. “It breaks my heart to have to postpone these shows as the band and I absolutely love playing to Australian crowds, and it was not a decision we made lightly. I know I need to focus on getting better in order to perform at my best. We’ll be with you as soon as we can, Aussies.”
Lorde’s return to Australia would be her third tour of the country since releasing her million-selling debut album Pure Heroine, which earned the 17-year-old New Zealand native numerous and significant accomplishments, including two Grammy Awards, a Brit Award, and the historic role of fronting Nirvana as part of their Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction performance with an all-female lineup.
In Australia, the stats also reflect Lorde’s enormous popularity: three spots in the top 15 of the Hottest 100 (including a #2 position for ‘Royals’); 6 x Platinum recognition for Royals/The Love Club EP and 2 x Platinum for Pure Heroine; over 16 million Spotify streams (making ‘Royals’ the most streamed track on the streaming service in Australia ever); and an acclaimed spot on the 2014 Laneway Festival – her last visit Down Under.
