German police have confirmed that the death toll from the tragic Love Parade crowd crush in Duisburg on the weekend has risen to 21. The latest victim, a 21 year old German woman, died of her injuries in hospital. Authorities have also confirmed that the injury toll from the disaster has risen to over 500, although it is understood that none of those are life threatening. Organiser Rainer Schaller confirmed in a televised press conference that the event would be discontinued out of respect for the victims, saying “My thoughts in these difficult times go out to those that who have experienced this tragic event and those who are in grief.” German police are also launching a criminal investigation in to the cause of the events, seizing documents off organisers.
