After a number of years on the scene, Brisbane electronic rock duo Machine Age have now released their stunning debut album, Point Of Departure.

A few years ago, the Aussie music scene expanded ever so slightly with the arrival of Machine Age. Formed by Adrian Mauro, the project is rooted in loss, following the passing of his brother some years earlier.

Having inherited his brother’s guitar, keyboard, and record collection, Mauro made it his goal to learn these instruments, eventually moving into the music scene and releasing tunes under the Machine Age moniker.

Having teamed up with drummer Dylan Stewart, the pair have toured alongside some pretty huge names on the Australian music scene (including The Jungle Giants, Holy Holy, #1 Dads, Ainslie Wills, and more), and have shared a number of exceptional singles over the last few years.

Now, Machine Age are set to release their debut album, Point Of Departure on Friday, September 13th.

Point Of Departure in its simplest meaning, the start of a discussion, it’s the first full project we’re putting into the world, but it’s got a deeper meaning for me,” explained Adrian Mauro.

“When I was 15, my older brother passed away and I found myself alone in our shared bedroom full of his instruments. I got hooked on music from there, playing his instruments.”

A powerful, yet emotional listen, Point Of Departure is as impressive as it is unique, serving as a way for Adrian to let go of his past pain, while tracks like the exceptional ‘If Only’ serve as a final goodbye.

“I didn’t start making music as Machine Age until years later when I once again found myself alone in a room after the end of a long term relationship,” he explains.

“The songs on this album come from loneliness and eventual solace in solitude. After some healing I went out armed with a guitar and a sampler and start making music.”

Machine Age’s Point Of Departure is out this Friday, with a run of album launch dates set to kick off in October, with the duo visiting Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia across the following month.
