Those lucky enough to have experienced the live carnage brought by thrash metal veterans Machine Head are now able to re-live it through the band’s first live album since ‘Hellalive’ back in 2003.
Of course for those who have no caught the legends live, now is your chance to taste some of the action.
As the crowd welcomes the band with ‘Machine F**king Head’ chants, the band launches into the monster intro of ‘I Am Hell [Sonata in C#]’ from their 2011 album Unto the Locust.
With this collection of live performances, you are part of the crowd in an instant can imagining each riff being strummed and each lyric being growled.
Vocalist Rob Flynn continuously amps the crowd up with chants and flattery before leaping into back catalogue tracks like ‘Imperium’ and ‘Old’.
The live experience is vastly different to the mastered studio tracks with a different balance of guitars and softer vocals in some areas.
Flynn engages with the patrons discussing the meaning for ‘Locust’ and relating it the crowd.
This is the absolute stand-out track of ‘Unto The Locust’ and seemingly so for this live album too. The explosive nature of this song is indescribable.
After just three guitar strums, ‘Darkness Within’ has the crowd clapping the intro in tune with the band. This beautiful song brings a bunch of animalistic metal heads together rejoicing and chanting the lyrics in unison with the catalytic style of the song.
Machine Head have an aura about them that separates them from others – this live album will have you aching to see this band live, whether it is for the first time or not.
