Mark McGuire Australian Tour 2013 Dates Tickets & Venues

After a sold out debut tour in early 2012, the Mark McGuire Australian Tour 2013 has been announced. A young American minimalist guitar master, Mark McGuire returns to Australia and New Zealand this September for four exclusive performances, including a headline set at Room40’s Open Frame festival in Brisbane.

A founding member of Emeralds, the legendary and now defunct Ohio arpeggio-heavy synth trio, in recent years McGuire has garnered increasing recognition and critical acclaim for his diverse and prolific creative output as a solo musician and collaborator.

A general guitar guru who creates a cyclic world of uneasy post-pop, minimalism and hazy ambience Mark McGuire could indeed be the Steve Reich of guitarists; using minimal elements and effects to create an otherworldly maximum effect. Already this decade, McGuire has toured regularly across his native North America and in Europe, Asia, and Australia; and released recordings for labels including Editions MEGO in addition to an array of CDR and tape labels in the States.

His brand new album, Along The Way (out now on Japan’s Inpartmaint., Inc label), is another radical development in his musical career, and has been already been acclaimed as “…about the most fluid, transporting, meditative music in the world” (Stereogum) and “a soul-searching survey of synthetic strings, gleaming power chords and weightless, buried lyric” (Self-Titled).

Whilst in Australia McGuire will additionally perform some select sets under the moniker DJ Road Chief, a seriously smooth modern soul/R’n’B/Miami Vice on the beach side-project that further showcases the depth and breadth of his musical talents.

McGuire has a strong affection for Australia, in 2012 releasing Inner Tube, a collaboration with Spencer Clark (The Skaters, Monopoly Child Star Searchers) which paid tribute to the new wave/soft rock/surf bands of the 70s and 80s from Australia and New Zealand.
