Massive Attack’s 3D might have just revealed plans for the English group’s first new music in four years.

In a series of three cryptic Instagram posts, bandmember Robert ‘3D’ Del Naja alluded to a possible new recording, captioning each image #EutopiaEP.

The band have yet to formally announce the record, but I don’t think it takes more than three brain cells to deduce that the band are hinting at an EP which may or may not (but probably is) called Eutopia.

If Eutopia is what we think it is, it will mark the band’s first crop of new music since 2016’s Ritual Spirit EP and the follow-up release Spoils Come Near Me 7-inch from that same year.

The band also shared a 16-second teaser video on Twitter, featuring a glitchy graphic, soundtracked by an ominous soundscape.

Back in April, during the thick of the coronavirus pandemic, Massive Attack offered fans an otherworldly live music experience, by hosting a Minecraft music festival.

The duo were set to perform at Block By Blockwest with a set comprised of cuts from 2013’s Massive Attack vs Adam Curtis show, which including vocals by leader Robert “3D” Del Naja and Cocteau Twins’ Elizabeth Fraser.

A festival that saw the likes of Pussy Riot, Grandson, nothing, nowhere., IDLES, Cherry Glazerr, Citizen, Knocked Loose and more join the lineup.

Unfortunately, the excitement for Massive Attack was so fervent that the festival’s servers crashed before the opening acts could grace the “stage,” and the whole thing was postponed.
