Back in August, we had you say hidely-ho to the world’s first Ned Flanders-themed metal band. A homegrown creation from Adelaide, Okilly Dokilly were a loving and fairly on-point tribute to the beloved Simpsons character (they had the sweaters and everything).

Adelaide seems to be pretty good at that sort of thing, because as RipItUp reports, the South Australian capital has now given birth to yet another awesome themed heavy band. They’re called McClane and if you haven’t guessed, they’re a Die Hard-themed punk band.

The band recently unveiled their debut album, Live Weak or Die Hard, which they’ll be celebrating with a one-off debut show at the end of the month at the Bluebee Room. Make sure you bring your white singlet and plenty of witty one-liners.

“The band was never intended for touring or being serious,” frontman Mike McClane told RipItUp. “It was so we could hang out at band practice every so often.” What’s more, the album is actually a great listen.

The well-produced release is comprised of 10 raucous hardcore punk songs that border on speed metal and feature plenty of references to the Die Hard films, as well as other pop culture staples like Point Break.

But why would anyone actually go to the trouble of recording a bunch of punk songs inspired by Die Hard and its protagonist? “‘Cause John McClane is a badass and those movies rule! Yippee Ki-yay Mother Fucker!” Right on.
