The funky collective that is the Melbourne Ska Orchestra are hitting the road next year, touring around the country following the release of their latest single, ‘Good Days Bad Days’.

For 16 years now, the Melbourne Ska Orchestra have been one of the most enigmatic, exciting, and immersive bands on the scene, dishing out infectious tunes and delivering raucous live shows at every turn.

While many folks would think the collective might have taken a bit of time off following their ambitious album, One Year Of Ska (which featured them releasing a brand new song every week throughout 2018), their recent ARIA Award for Best World Music Album has clearly made them even more eager to do what they do best.

Of course, with up to 25 musicians performing at a time, even band leader Nicky Bomba has conceded the group can almost be a little bit too much to handle at time, but their hard work and amazing talents combine to create something very special.

“With so many band members, we’re a bit like a soccer team!” Bomba stated. “Our live shows are a community experience.

“It’s imperative for us to make a solid unifying connection with our audience. We hold the live performance in high esteem, as it’s an ancient ritual where humans come together celebrating life through the wonder of music. It’s a bit of a spectacle to behold.”

Now though, the group have announced a bunch of national tour dates in support of their latest single, ‘Good Days Bad Days’, a tune that is the result of an intense year of work and reflects on the ups and downs of life.

“The Good Days Bad Days sentiment is universal and it covers all walks of life,” Bomba adds. “The second verse is particularly close to home, as it relates to putting our own gigs on – it’s always a risk, and things can turn on a dime.

“Life is full of the extremes of the pendulum swing. Finding the balance is the key, eh!”

The group’s national tour kicks off at the Mullumbimby Civic Hall on February 28th next year, and will take them all over the east coast, including a few shows over in WA.
