Metallica have revealed they plan to start work on another new project with the revelation they are in the process of looking for a director to help them produce a 3D film. The self-funded investment will be a ‘Metallica style’ feature film with producer Charlotte Huggins already signing up.  Previous works of Huggins include ‘Journey to the Center of the Earth’ and its sequel ‘Journey 2: The Mysterious Island’.

Metallica aren’t shy when it comes to bearing all, their music was used in the 1996 documentary Paradise Lost which features their music as a bad influence on three teenagers who were convicted of mass murder.  The directors of Paradise Lost, Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky, teamed up again with Metallica to direct their 2004 documentary Metallica: Some Kind of Monster.

With huge success and a cult following, it featured all band members attempting to mend broken relationships within the band, whilst recording the album blah. It also includes a memorable ‘dummy spit’ from lead vocalist and guitarist James Hetfield, whilst Lars Ulrich bangs on about suing the pants off Limewire.

It’s unknown whether or not Metallica will take a backseat with this project or will actually star in the film. We’re guessing that it maybe a U2 inspired 3D concert, special features include of course would include Ulrich’s rant on the current state of the music industry.

What we don’t expect to see is any mention of their fuck up rejecting director Quentin Tarantino’s offer to choreograph Kill Bill’s famous fight sequences to Metallica’s music, or of their latest collaboration with Lou Reed for album Lulu which has been panned by critics.
