Metallica have pledged $350,000 to COVID-19 relief. The band’s All Within My Hands Foundation will donate grants to four organisations at the frontline of the crisis.

$100,000 will be donated to Feeding America — an organisation who recently launched a COVID-19 Response Fund. Feeding America is working with local food banks to support those facing hunger in these frightening times.

The band have also pledged $100,000 to Direct Relief, a nonprofit organization that aims personal protective equipment and essential medical items to health workers responding to COVID-19.

The final $100,000 pledge will go to Live Nation’s Crew Nation initiative. The global relief fund aims to offer financial support to the touring and venue crews that have been affected by the devastating effects that the virus has had on the live touring industry. Live Nations is committing $10 million to the initiative, contributing an initial $5 million to the fund and then matching the following $5 million donated by musicians, fans and employees.

“In the wake of the spread of the Coronavirus, the most vulnerable people in our communities need help now more than ever,” reads a statement on Metallica’s website. “All Within My Hands is reaching out with four grants totaling $350,000 to organizations dedicated to assisting those hit hard by the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.”

The band recently launched their #MetallicaMondays streaming service. Each Monday at  5:00 pm PST, they will broadcast a full concert from the archives via YouTube and Facebook Live. #MetallicaMondays has already raised $15,000 for those affected by the virus.

“We know this is the hardest of times for many of you, but if you would like to support any of these organizations, please feel free to reach out directly to our incredibly dedicated partners, as their needs are very wide-ranging; every dollar helps.”
