Music fanatic Christmas is almost around the corner in the form of Record Store day, a whole 24-hours dedicated to the near hoarder level obsession with consuming rare releases and variants of their favourite albums.
Now, in honour of 2018’s instalment of the event, Aussie music promoting legend Michael Chugg, Dan Sultan and Amber Lawrence will serve as Australian ambassadors for the 11th worldwide event. Sydney’s very own live music advocate, Anthony Albanese served as last year’s ambassador and will be handing over the honour today.
The annual event celebrates just how important indie record stores are to music culture worldwide, encouraging fans young and old to delve deep into legendary acts discographies and back catalogues.
Set for Saturday 21 April, indie music stores around Australia will throw open their doors to live music with in-store appearances, DJs spinning the vinyl, treasure hunts, parties, barbecues, coffee carts, face painting and, of course, the legendary vinyl crate digging.
