Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ is no longer the greatest selling album of all time in the US. The late artist has been usurped by Eagles.

As confirmed by the Recording Industry Association of America, Eagles’ 1976 release “Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975) has reportedly sold 38 million copies, where Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ is five million behind at 33 million copies.

The RIAA have also confirmed that Eagles’ 1977 album ‘Hotel California’ is the third best selling record of all-time in the US, going 26 times platinum.

However, Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ is still the best-selling album worldwide, amassing an incredible 47 million copies sold.

In a statement, Eagles’ founding member Don Henley said: “We are grateful for our families, our management, our crew, the people at radio and, most of all, the loyal fans who have stuck with us through the ups and downs of 46 years. It’s been quite a ride.”
