Mike Posner has been airlifted to hospital following a snakebite that has seen his cross-country walk of the United States put on hold.
Back in April of this year, chart-topping musician Mike Posner decided to take on a challenge of a different kind, embarking on “The Walk Across America”, a trek from the US state of New Jersey all the way over to California.
An ambitious task, the walk has seen Posner covering numerous miles each day, most of which have been relatively uneventful, and have resulted in him seeing some rather interesting parts of the US countryside.
However, the musician found himself in a bit of trouble earlier this week, being airlifted to hospital after being bitten by a snake.
Taking to Instagram recently, Mike Posner shared a video of himself in hospital, noting he had been walking for 16 miles on Wednesday, when a baby rattlesnake bit him, leaving him unable to to complete the remaining eight miles, and necessitating an air transport to a hospital in Colorado.
“That venom is no joke!” he explained to his followers. “I got to the hospital and got the anti-venom in time.
“I’ll be here a few days and will not be able to walk for several weeks but enjoying the AC and the nice bed, haven’t had those in a while!” he joked. “Can’t wait to get back on The Walk!”
Posner took to Instagram again overnight to provide an update on his situation, noting he has been forced to use a walker while he attempts to recuperate.
“From 24 miles per day to using this walker to get to bathroom,” he wrote. “I’m on my way back. Gonna rebuild with patience and equanimity.”
While it remains to be seen when Mike Posner will be able to get back on the road, we wish him a speedy recovery!
