Melbourne’s World’s End Press are back in a big way with the first single ‘Deadbeat Sweetheart’ from their forthcoming album, due for release hopefully sooner rather than later. Next up Splashh, sort of Australian London based band have a new track as well as an upcoming debut Australian tour, followed by the delightful Kim Deal, jazzman Thundercat, Brisbane’s Jeremy Hunter, Melbourne’s Honey Badgers, Sydney’s Jagwar Ma and the most excellent Queen cover by Melvins.

World’s End Press – Deadbeat Sweetheart

Melbourne’s own World’s End Press are back with their latest electronic-infused single. With disco-infused beats and lyrics to match, it’s no wonder the four-piece are consistently making the rounds in Australia’s touring scene. We can’t wait to hear this one live.

Splashh – All I Wanna Do

Splashh has a sound that could easily be likened to the story of their surroundings. The London based four-piece features members hailing from our very own Byron Bay; and so fittingly their sound incorporates elements of the grunge-revivalist scene currently dotted around London and the surf-garage movement surfacing closer to home. New track ‘All I Wanna Do’ combines swirling hooks and hazy chords that creates a perfect mix of sun-drenched and distorted fuzz.

Kim Deal – Hot Shot

Hot Shot’ is the new super laid back single from the Breeders Kim Deal doing the solo thing. Boasting of Kim’s trademark sweet vocals with effects, jangly guitars, tambourine and lo-fi production values, the track is a very enjoyable 2.44 minutes long. Really what is not to enjoy about Kim Deal…

Thundercat – Heartbreaks & Setbacks

The new king of smooth’s latest track is the first single from his soon-to-be-released second record. Smooth, sexy, and emotional as ever, the Jazzy man behind Thundercat knows what he’s doing. But in case there were any doubts, he’s put Flying Lotus at the helm of producing. Match made in heaven if you ask us.

Jeremy Hunter – Picking Up The Pieces

One of the founders of Brisbane indie-orchestra Inland Sea, Jeremy Hunter sets out to master the delicate folk numbers on his debut EP, and ‘Picking Up the Pieces’ is a pretty slice of fun. Multi-instrumentalist and king of the ‘oooh-ooohs’, Hunter actually played each instrument himself on the single, and it makes for a very tight and very catchy gem from the Brisbane lad.

Honey Badgers – Loves Not For The Brave

Honey Badgers bring it in this punchy two-minute track full of distortion-pop riffs juxtaposed against cutesy-punk harmonies. Whacking love-song soppiness over the head with a crowbar of irony, ‘Loves Not For The Brave’ will see you dancing along with the rest and best of them.

Jagwar Ma – Man I Need

Set to drop their hotly-anticipated debut LP Howlin’ later this month, Sydney duo Jagwar Ma have released a nine-minute jam that serves as a brilliant followup to their first single, ‘The Throw’, which up until now had left the blogosphere thirsty for more Ma. ‘Man I Need//Exercise’ starts as a slice of 90s-tinged indie, led by fuzzy vocals and a psych-drenched beat, before it breaks away on an extended instrumental dance tangent. Catchy, infectious and cathartic – this is bound to get everyone howling at Splendour.

Melvins – You’re My Best Friend

Well know for being sludge rockers, Melvins have shown another side to their musical talent with the first track that has been released into the world from their unconventional covers album ‘Everybody Loves Sausages.’ Covering Queen’s ‘You’re My Best Friend’, with computer game keyboard sounds, understated  vocals and slight moments of psychedelia, the Melvins have certainly put their own take on the Queen classic and it totally rules!!!
