For a band who have played alongside the likes of Billy Joel, Patti Smith, Earth, Wind & Fire, Aerosmith, and Van Halen, it’s safe to say that Dallas Frasca know a thing or two about rock.

The Australian trio have been blazing stages at festivals and headline shows around the world since winning ‘Artist Of The Year’ at the Australian Independent Music Awards in 2010. Fans of the band include Slash, alongside Ozzy Osbourne, Tori Amos, Janelle Monae, Tom Waits, Basement Jaxx – who together judged and awarded their 2012 hit ‘All My Love’ as third in the AAA category of the International Songwriting Competition.

As if that isn’t impressive enough, the band’s fiercely loyal following recently helped the three-piece achieve their $20,000 crowd-funding target to record their upcoming album, Love Army.

Now, the animated group are back on home soil to celebrate the release of their brand new single ‘Lizard Boy‘, coupled by the thrilling video, which was premiered on Tone Deaf last month. Hailed as one of the country’s finest ‘riff rock’ collectives, we decided to pick the group’s brain about their favourite rock n’ roll riffs of all time.

Black Sabbath – ‘Into The Void’

“The world’s most commanding, destructive guitar riff drop of all time. This riff is so fat that even Mt Everest tried to climb it. These boys are the architects of metal and stoner.”

Metallica – ‘Master Of Puppets’

“One of the world’s most recognised riffs, it makes you want to ‘Mexican wave’ your neck off your shoulders while one hand is firmly holding the stage and the other is raised in the ‘sign of the horns’. This riff is so fucking massive, it needs to put her lipstick on with a paint-roller.”

AC/DC – ‘Back In Black’

“Guitar tones that cut right through your torso. This one ‘should be’ enough to make a hipster hang their guitar up.”

Led Zeppelin – ‘Black Dog’

“The original, ‘slam your head til it rolls off your body’ riff (even a nun would lick the grease off Jimmy Pages’ riff fingers).”

Nirvana– ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’

“This bad boy is like a chainsaw chewing slowly through your cranium.”

Truckfighters – ‘Desert Cruiser’

“The first time I heard this riff, the skin on my gooch quivered and it was time to polish the pearl for real. Fuzz riffage at its best.”

Rage Against The Machine – ‘Bulls On Parade’

“This riff could slam a revolving door.”

Chuck Berry – ‘Johnny B. Goode’

“The riff turns any room into a frenzy, then in by the solo, ejaculates and blows it’s load all over it’s belt (made from the wall of China).”
