Earlier this year Moby publicly announced that he was veering headfirst into a midlife crisis upon the unveiling of a “vegan for life” neck tattoo. Now, the musician has taken his passion for animal welfare to the next extremity, with a brand new sleeve tattoo dedicated to the cause.

In celebration of his 32 year anniversary of veganism —which, we’ll hand it to him, is an impressive feat– the musician decorated both his arms with a gigantic, yet minimalist tattoo, simply reading “animal rights.” The tattoo was executed by artist and anti-vaxxer Kat Von D. It’s truly something, check it out below.

“As November is my 32 year vegan anniversary i thought i’d get a tattoo (well, technically 12 tattoos) to celebrate,” Moby explained in a post on Instagram.  I’m a vegan animal rights activist for many reasons, but ultimately because i believe at the core of my being that every animal has the right to live their own life, according to their own will. Thanks @thekatvond @highvoltagetat #veganforlife #animalrights.”

Back in May, following the release of his controversial — and prophetic— memoir Then It Fell Apart, Moby announced that he was going to embark on a self-imposed exile following the litany of backlash stories from the memoir received. The musician consequently cancelled his scheduled book tour, and announced that he was “going to go away for a while”.

Nothing truly demonstrates one’s commitment to self-exile quite like three monstrous tattoos.
