K-pop group MONSTA X’s I.M has announced his first solo single. This will be his first official solo release since the act’s debut in 2015.

K-pop group MONSTA X member I.M has announced his first solo single.

The announcement confirms what the rapper had been teasing his fans with for a while now. At an award show earlier this year, he’d said: “I don’t know when, but I’ll be releasing a solo single in the first half of the year.”

The news was also confirmed earlier today by I.M’s agency, Starship Entertainment. Revealing that he is working on his solo single, the company set expectations soaring with a possible late February date.

Since MONSTA X’s debut, the group have gone from underdogs to rising stars in the K-pop sphere, becoming famous for their hard-hitting tracks and powerful choreographies. Not that just, the group’s also become an example of the new generation of K-pop idols, ones who don’t shy away from discussing issues like mental health.

In 2019, they also became the first K-pop act in a decade to release an all-English album, ALL ABOUT LUV, which will celebrate it’s second anniversary this Valentine’s Day.

Apart from continuing their global domination, the album also achieved the impressive feat of ranking fifth on the Billboard 200 chart. The only two K-pop acts to break the Top 10 are BTS and SuperM.

Since their debut, I.M, real name Im Chang Kyun, has been heavily involved in the songwriting process and production of MONSTA X’s tracks. Along with collaborations with the likes of Yeseo, he also boasts fellow members Joohoney and Hyungwon on his releases.

While it has not been confirmed, the rapper is also planning a solo album, due sometime in late 2021.
