It’s been a long twenty-one years since Mr. Bungle released their last record, 1999’s California. Now it finally looks like that drought is soon to end. The band recently wrapped up a brief U.S. tour that saw them play their cult 1986 demo, The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny, in full — now they appear to be hitting the studio.

The Mike Patton-fronted project shared a photo on Twitter of a soundboard, and unless someone’s profoundly fucked up and pocket tweeted, we’re going to assume that new music is in the works. There are a couple of delicious easter eggs tucked away in the photo; written on masking tape is the name “Scott” — which we presume is Anthrax’s Scott Ian, who joined the band on guitar for their US Tour.

“When Mike hit me up about this my brain thought he was asking me if I wanted to come to a show, him knowing I am a HUGE Bungle fan,” Ian shared upon the announcement that Mr. Bungle were reuniting for a tour. “When I realized he actually meant for me to play guitar with them it broke my brain, I was a giggly drooling mess. Somehow I pecked out Y E S on my keyboard and holy crap I’m playing in Mr. Bungle. Seriously, it’s an honor and a privilege to get to play with my favorite ‘Mr.’ band of all time.”

Mike Patton will be gracing Australian shores in May with Faith No More. You can find all the gig information below.
