It seems that everybody’s favourite Brisbane indie rockers Ball Park Music are pretty chuffed with the acclaim of their sophomore album Museum. So much so, that they’ve re-released it and thrown in a live coverage of their Sydney O-Week performance.

If you’re an Australian music lover, there’s no doubt you’d have heard at least one of Museums’ tracks. Both “Coming Down” and “Surrender” ranked the Triple J hottest 100 of 2012 at 23 and 27 respectively, and single “Fence Sitter” has been getting some heavy radio rotation in recent times.

Overall, the release is a sound representation of just how dynamic the five-piece can be. Energetic songs such as “Cost Of Lifestyle” and “Bad Taste Blues (Part II)” are polarised with intimate, soft tracks such as “Coming Down” and “Harbour Of Lame Ducks”, and lyrics can go from superficial like “And even though I know I’m a lucky boy / I get days where I want to die” to deep, “I’ve never been your number one / I’m a helicopter at an endless sun”.

The bonus CD showcases an eight song performance at Sydney’s Manning Bar where they showcase hits from Museum as well as from their debut Happiness and Surrounding Suburbs such as “Literally Baby”, “All I Want Is You”, and “Sad Rude Future Dude”.

The live recordings complement the studio tracks wonderfully, and it’s clear to see that Ball Park Music have a huge live sound.

One thing is clear, Museum is quickly becoming a staple album for all Australian music lovers.
