Another Australian album has debuted at the top of the ARIA Albums Chart, as live concert album Music From The Home Front, recorded virtually on ANZAC Day, claims the #1 position this week.

The concert, which was broadcast live on Channel 9, was put together by Mushroom Group and Bloodlines to raise money for Support Act and help struggling entertainment workers during the coronavirus pandemic.

The concert saw performances by ARIA Hall Of Fame inductees Jimmy Barnes, Crowded House, Mark Seymour, Colin Hay, Paul Kelly, James Reyne and Andrew Farriss (INXS),

There were also songs by as well as ARIA winners Tones And I, Missy Higgins, Vance Joy, Bliss n Eso, Kate Ceberano, Delta Goodrem, Dean Lewis, Guy Sebastian and more.

A 27-track release, Music From The Home Front also includes a welcome speech from Michael Gudinski, and a performance of ‘The Last Post’ on bugle by James Morrison.

“I’m humbled and proud to receive this #1 award from ARIA on behalf of all the incredible artists who stepped up at the eleventh hour and delivered for Music From The Home Front, Support Act, the RSL and all the front line workers,” said Mushroom Group founder and chairman Michael Gudinski.

“I want to thank them all, and I’m also immensely proud of the Mushroom Team, Channel 9 and of course all the media that helped promote this most significant event. Music From The Home Front is in the top 5 moments of my life and I will never forget this unprecedented event that will remain etched in Australian music history.”

The concert saw 1.419 million TV viewers tune in, and over 50+ acts from Australia and New Zealand perform.

“Congratulations to the Mushroom team and all the incredible artists involved in making Music From The Home Front on a Number 1 ARIA album,” said ARIA CEO Dan Rosen.

We live in challenging times, but the creativity and the generosity of our brilliant Australian artists shines through. This album is a testament to the talent we have in this country, and its success shows that Australian music is a fundamental part of our national spirit.”

This weeks Top 5 on the ARIA Albums Chart also saw the debut of Ocean Alley’s new record Lonely Diamond, which bows at #3. It’s the band’s third album, and is their first time breaking the Top 10 of the chart.

The vinyl edition of Lonely Diamond tops the ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart this week too.
