Woops! Notorious car tinkerer Neil Young has not only lost his 1959 Lincoln Continental car which he was converting to be fuel efficient, it also burnt a heap of his instruments and collection of memorabilia in a San Francisco warehouse. Apparently the blaze caused $850,000 in damages. Young reckons the fire was caused by the charging system on his LincVolt battery, saying “The wall charging system was not completely tested and had never been left unattended. A mistake was made. It was not the fault of the car.
Young is determined to continue the project which aims to increase fuel-efficient travel, writing on LincVolt.com: “Our project is to demonstrate alternative energies for transportation that are clean. We’re still in a race against time. On a project like this, setbacks happen for a reason and we can see that very well from here.”
