NSW’s Blue Mountains has been a mill of great music in recent years. In addition to its scenic landscapes, it’s also a hotbed of musical talent, boasting a bustling scene that’s spawned some of Australia’s best loved bands and artists.
Now, a new Australian music festival is set to celebrate the region’s unique music scene. Kicking off in Katoomba on Saturday, 27th February at Scenic World, Off The Rails will feature some of Australia’s most in-demand acts performing amid the sights of the Blue Mountains.
Sitting atop the lineup are local hip-hop favourites Thundamentals. “Mountains shows are always loose,” MC Poncho told triple j. “I’m looking forward to that atmosphere. Shows are always more fun when the crowd is rowdy as.”
Joining the crew will be fellow Blue Mountains artists Urthboy, who’s been particularly busy of late, and Jack Ladder & The Dreamlanders. As triple j notes, Urthboy has previously labelled the Blue Mountains “one of the most important places on Earth”.
Scenic World’s Head of Marketing and Events, Amanda Byrne, told the J that Off The Rails is “about celebrating everything that’s great about living in the Blue Mountains – our connected community, talented creatives, epic landscapes, good times and an outdoor lifestyle”.
“That’s why the festival is dominated by home-grown exceptional talent.” There are more acts on the bill still to be revealed but tickets are on sale now. Check below for more details or head on over to the Off The Rails website.
