Pop punk icons Blink-182 have been gearing up for the release of their sixth studio album Neighbourhoods, due on 27th September. But eager fans have somehow got their hands on a copy ahead of the release date, sending Blink-182’s label Interscope into a frenzy to try and stop it spreading.
This was compounded when a radio station in LA, KROQ, misinterpreted an agreement with the label and made the album available online to stream in its entirety. Interscope quickly moved to have KROQ remove the tracks with the radio station issuing the following statement “UPDATE: Unfortunately we’ve been caught in an internal battle between departments within Blink-182′s record label, and have been asked to suspend our Neighborhoods full album stream.”
Speaking of the album, KROQ says “Although the new album doesn’t have the fun sound of albums past, the talent and quality of the music is far beyond any of their other previous records. The time spent on side projects while the band was split definitely opened them up to a new level of sound, and allowed their creativity to expand beyond the usual guitar, bass and drum combination we’re used to hearing from them.”
Interscope, who are probably still trying to deal with accusations of rampant cocaine smuggling within the company, have been doing their best to try and remove any of the tracks that find their way back online. But we’ve found a few obscure sources who are hosting the files, so if you can’t wait a few more days until the official release then click here and turn your volume up loud.
