Material girl Madonna, who has more gold certified singles in the US than The Beatles, has announced that she will be releasing her 12th studio album next March.

While promoting her new film (which has been copping a barage of negative reviews) at the Venice Film Festival, the 53 year old singer revealed in an interview with Swedish television “I’ve started a little bit of work in the studio, when I got back to New York and till the end of the year I’ll be in the recording studio.”

“The first single in February/March and the album will come out in the spring,” she said. “I’m looking forward to working on it.” The album will be the first since 2008’s Hard Candy which debuted at number 1 in over 37 countries worldwide, including the US, Australia, UK, Japan, Switzerland and more. Hard Candy went on to sell over 3.8 million copies worldwide.

It would be Madonna’s last album with her record company Warner, ending a 25-year relationship she had with the label. She went on to sign a 360 deal with Live Nation worth a reported $150 million which included her producing this new album. Here’s hoping her latest musical effort goes down better than her foray into cinema.
